the debate about coffee suppliers | Scribble Print Articles

the debate about coffee suppliers

We repeatedly ask ourselves the age old question; to drink or not to drink? We worry about the sugar, the milk and definitely the caffeine. If only there were not as many coffee suppliers and growers out there making all sorts of new blends that are just too irresistibly delicious.

There are dozens of ways in which we can get our daily intake of caffeine. Different infused flavors, colors ranging from a creamy vanilla to a deep dark brown served in various sized cups. Whether you like it strong and black or sweet and frothy with cream is completely up to you.

However, we must consider the effects this has on our health. The debate about caffeine seems to just go on and on, yet we still choose to get our fix whenever we can. It has been said that for every cup you drink, you need to drink two full glasses of water to help replenish what the caffeine has taken out of your system. Also it is wise to take an hour every night to relax, just sit down on the couch and read something, so that the body has a chance to slow down naturally.

If you do indulge, try to stay away from other caffeine filled substances like chocolate and sodas. However, if you notice some drastic changes in your sleeping patterns, maybe it would be best to switch to decaf or stay off the beans altogether for a while.

For many years it has been considered in medical circles that pregnant women should not drink beverages that contain caffeine, because it could increase their risk of a miscarriage. A study by researchers has however cast new light on the risks of caffeine during pregnancy. Their research shows that consuming the amount of caffeine found in one to two cups does not increase the chances of a miscarriage. However, consuming the amount of caffeine contained in five or more cups of coffee a day appears to double the risk.

According to some doctors, it may not be that harmful for children to drink it. It seems to improve concentration and may help children do a little better on tests for this reason. Another doctor suggests that children who drink it with milk are less likely to have depression than other children. There are negative effects of drinking coffee, most of which are associated with drinking it in large amounts. But for some people, and particularly for children, even 1 cup of coffee could have negative effects.

There is a theory that it was discovered by a sheep herder. The herder noticed that his sheep would get hyperactive after eating red cherries from a plant we now know to be coffee. Intrigued by this, he tried a couple himself, and was soon in a caffeine frenzy. The local monks soon discovered that they could stay up later for their prayers if they ingested this - or so the story goes.

Even though we know all of this and we argue the facts constantly, it seems that it hardly affects the business of coffee suppliers.
